Why do I need a USB Storage Device?
Why do I need a USB Storage Device to use a Premium Voice?
Your USB Storage Device will be used to transfer files between your computer and your instrument. You will not be able to install your Premium Voice without a compatible USB device:
- Tyros3 compatible USB device
- Tyros4 compatible USB device
Yamaha recommends a device with at least 300MB free.
What is a USB Storage Device?

A USB Storage Device (e.g. Thumb Drive, Flash Drive, Jump Drive, USB Hard Drive) is a file storage device with a USB plug on one end that can connect to any USB-ready computer or keyboard.
A Flash Memory Expansion Module is installed. (DIMM memory is not compatible with Tyros4)

A Flash Memory Expansion Module is an additional piece of hardware designed specifically for your instrument. Installing the Flash Memory Expansion Module to the Tyros4 allows you to import Wave files such as Premium Voices.

Where can I purchase a Flash Memory Expansion Module?

You can purchase a Flash Memory Expansion Module from your local Yamaha dealer. Compatible expansion modules are the FL512M and FL1024M.
